The ability to supply wood chip is relatively straightforward however the ability to supply on a consistent basis into the future presents a significant challenge. This we define as the security of supply. Our partnership with Coillte evolved over the 10 years after we recognised the need to involve the largest timber producer on the island. Ecowood and Coillte Biomass represented a great synergy as they provided the requisite timber volumes and Ecowood the people, logistics and the market to supply the finished product.
Our depot in Drumkeen between Letterkenny and Stranorlar in Donegal can store in excess of 20,000m3 of timber which when ready is then chipped and stored in our facilities and supplied to the customers on a managed basis depending on demand, storage facilities etc.
Timber - delivered on ongoing basis to the 7 acre depot in Drumkeen (approx 35,000m3 per annum)
Seasoned - over time depending on moisture requirement levels.
Processed - The timber is chipped into large storage facility.
Out to you - Delivered to customer on a rota basis ensuring that fuel supply is maintained at all times.
A simple telephone call will begin this process and an Ecowood representative will typically visit a site to ensure the correct delivery method (blown delivery or walking floor trailer) is chosen as well ensuring adequate access, turning circles and so forth.
